HELP! Cornell: CALS (AEM) or Hotel Administration for Marketing?

I am stuck between two different departments in Cornell. I really want to major in business marketing and I've looked up marketing majors in Cornell and these two came up. I'm finding more interest in the Hotel Administration department but I'm not sure if it's good to choose a hotel department when there is a separate AEM department.
Another problem is my grades.
I have a weighted average of 89.74 in a specialized high school and SAT super score of 2220: R 630, W 790, and M 800.
And I have SAT2: Math 2c 760, Physics 640, Korean 800, and chem 570
I have two teacher recommendation from a spanish and physics teacher.
I don't have much extracurricular except being a vp of a club, being in the school newspaper and working in few places outside of school. I don't play sports or is active in any school related activities.
With these, will I even be able to get into any of those two?
I want to know which one I should try out for because I feel like I have some chance to get in to hotel but not AEM.
Help PLEASE!

Cornell doesn’t use writing scores from SAT.

The are two different schools at Cornell. AEM is in ALS which is in “contract” (with NY state) Cornell. Hotel Management is part of “endowed” Cornell, which is private. It is much cheaper for a NY resident to attend ALS than Hotel Management.

“I feel like I have some chance to get in to hotel but not AEM.” You have answered your own question.

Thanks for the quick reply!
So which one are you suggesting I should go for? Hotel?
Isn’t there a chance for me to get any scholarship?

I need help please!

Do you want to be in the Agriculture School? As I understand it that Dyson AEM thing is difficult to get in because it’s popular with NY residents who pay in-state tuition. AEM is the most difficult part of Agriculture (CALS) to be admitted for.

However, I think you should check with Cornell experts.

You have to look closely at the requirements of the two schools.

Yes, I just tried calling the office of admission but they are closed for the break.
I’m finding more interest in the Hotel one but I’m afraid that that would mean I would have to work with something hotel-related. Is that right? I’m so confused…!!!

Isn’t there something like “consumer economics” that might also include marketing coursework in HumEc? Read through the offerings in that division at Cornell, and see if anything could work for you. In the past HumEc was generally easier to get into than the Hotel school.

But I’m not so interested in that one :frowning: It’s more marketing management like to attract consumer kind. I’m so confused. Do you have any idea of the answer to the previous question I asked?

Did you post your question in the Cornell forum? More expertise there…

Alright! Thanks for the suggestion :)

the hotel school is not likely unless you have the EC’s to back it up.
