Help Deciding Where To Go

Hi I'm trying to figure out where to go:

Choices

University Of Central Florida with Honors
Florida International University with Honors
University of Miami
Oxford College at Emory University

Any advice!?
Thanks

University of Miami.

is money a factor?

If you look at the financial aid information from the college board>

http://apps.collegeboard.com/search...634&profileId=2

you will see that the university of miami only meets 80% of your need. Unless you are most likely a recruited athlete, you will have a gap each year of atleast a few thousand $ which you will have to find some way of filling because the school does not met 100% of your demonstrated need.

The school distributes their aid package as a ration of 36% scholarships and grants and 64% loans.

just looking at these numbers mean once you add on the $ from the unmet (gapped) need, you will have so major debt at the end of 4 years. If you are looking to attend grad/professional school you want to try to have the least amount of undergrad debt because in grad/professional school most of your aid is coming in loans.

If you work immeadiately after graduating you salary would be used to pay off the massive debt not giving you much of a quality of life as a young adult.

Are there any benefits in staying in florida (free rides, etc)

if possible visit each school during their admitted students days; sit in on classes, spend the night, talk with other students then make a decision

Throw out Central Florida and Florida International right away. Even with honors these schools aren't so great.

The plus side to attending Emory's Oxford College is that after two years, you get to transfer to Emory's main university and attend a top-20 school. The drawback is that you have to spend the first two years in a community college-esque environment.

Either Oxford or Miami...

IMHO Oxford would be the way to go.

Having spent 4 years at Emory grad school, yet being familiar with Florida, and comparing locale, population and quality of education, I recommend Oxford.

Thanks guys for your support, but i'm still confused b/c i feel like if i go to Emory Oxford i'm not going to have much of a fun college experience.

does anyone know if it is in a fun area? Ive never been to where oxford is?

In regard to miami, I was waitlisted :( So i have to see if i will get lucky.

Anyways, I'm really thinking about UCF since I got into a program called Lead Scholars. It's like better than honors or something.

Still any advice.
Thanks

If you'd like more info on Oxford, try posting and looking around at Emory's individual forum.

EMORY!!!!

But that's just me.

Considering your comments and choices, I think the honors program at UCF is your best match. UCF is becoming a hot school in FL right now. Check out the US News article, "A+ Schools for B Students." UCF is recommended. The campus is beautiful, new, and comfortable. The kids are great and the culture doesn't revolve around football. FL just announced plans to build a med school there. Good luck with your decision and congrats on your acceptances.
