I'm a Georgia resident, so with HOPE staying in state is my most affordable option.

I have a 3.7 GPA
29 ACT
Dual enrolled at a state university for 1 year.

So far I'm applying to
Georgia State, UGA, and Univ. Tenn- Chattanooga.

Georgia State is the most affordable, UTC is the closest, and UGA would be the most prestigious.

Should I go to one of these schools, or what are some other options for me?

You’ve got decent grades, so I’d encourage you to apply to a private if that interests you and see what kind of financial aid offer you get. In TN HOPE money can go to a private school.

If you’re looking for somewhere close and Chattanooga is nearby, then Sewanee might be a match for you. Of course, if you’re venturing into TN you really ought to come visit us at Rhodes. (sorry, I can’t mention Sewanee without dropping Rhodes’ name )

Can Georgia students take HOPE out of GA? Can you use it at UT-Chat?

I say apply to all that appeal to you and that fit your HOPE.

I think UGa will be your best choice. Great school, and affordable since you’re in-state with HOPE.

:)

Can your family afford to pay the costs not met by HOPE?

I was actually living on campus with my dual enrollment, so I worked there to pay my housing. My EFC is high, but no assistance coming from the parents, which is why a private school doesn’t seem like my best option.

I can’t take HOPE out of Georgia, but UTC gives my county a discount on Out of State tuition because it is so close.

I would love to go to Rhodes. Hate the feeling that I’m being held back because of my financial situation.

It’s pretty easy to apply. The fee is waived if you apply online (I assume it is at most places these days). You can also do common app, and there’s something called a fast app where a lot of your info is pre-filled. Give it a whirl and see how it works out.
