HELP: Disciplinary Action with Excellent Grades and Scores

Runswimyoga, times must have changed. One of my HS classmates was expelled from Andover after being busted for possession of pot in Cambridge. He cam to our public HS for senior year, and was accepted at Yale. This was the HS class of 1971.

Maybe the difference is being busted after being accepted, leading to rescinding of the acceptance.

@anjans, I find it HIGHLY suspicious that your S was accosted by the principal within half an hour of getting one pill from a classmate, if I read your story correctly. And then the classmate goes scot-free? Very, very strange course of events. Did the principal ask your S who gave it to him? Did he threaten to drop the hammer on your S because he wouldn’t give the other person up? Unless the principal is psychic, someone must have been observing them, probably someone observing the distributor.

Once, when I was in senior year of HS and we were feeling our oats, I was observed by a teacher skipping school with a friend, who happened to be the squeaky clean Val of our class. Only I was reported. Nothing came of it. I attributed both of those things to the fact that I was with her. B-)

A mom friend of mine went through a similar issue but it was consensual sexting. Her child withdrew before expulsion and plead guilty to a misdemeanor to avoid trial for a felony. He applied to about 20 schools and was only accepted to 2 schools both of which would be considered ultimate safety schools. He stayed for 2 years at one of these and got a 4.0 plus some exceptional recs and activities and was able to transfer to one of his original top choices to complete his degree. He had to get his recs from the teachers at the new school but I don’t think the schools he got into even required recs. The other option they considered was community college for 2 years which in our state if they do well means they can automatically transfer into the state flagship colleges. It’s a very hard lesson to learn over 1 mistake but it can be overcome through time.
