With the UC application deadline coming to close, I have a urgent question.
I have a “voluntary withdrawal” from my private high school during my junior year for helping my friend cheat on exam (I was literally begged).
My transcript simply says that I withdrawed from high school (not expelled), and Dean declared that he would not disclose any information about the incident.
Afterward, I transferred to public h.s. and graduated there.
Now, I am 2nd year C.C. student, have 4.0, looking to transfer to Berkeley or UCLA.
On the UC application, there is no place to even write about the incident except maybe the additional academic history section…
Should I report the withdraw from H.S.? Would they even care?
If I don’t, and they see that my most recent high school was from second semester junior year, would schools actually look into my past records to see what happened?
Also, should I write down my CA SSID on application? Or is that risky?
I’m not sure what the problem is. I commend your honesty but if it simply says you withdrew and transferred to a public high school, I’m not sure why it’s relevant. As far as they know you couldn’t afford the tuition. Or you were bullied. Or it was too far away. A person could withdraw for any reason. Just list the two high schools and leave it at that. If you get accepted they will usually request the high school transcripts but they just want them is all. And many people go to one or more high schools. So you can put in the CA SSID - or not. It’s not required.
I agree with @lindyk8. Your past is your past and, as a transfer student, they’re more interested in who you are now. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If they ask and you want to be honest with them you can be, but I think it wouldn’t be of any benefit to you to mention it.
Did you know that you don’t even need a high school diploma to go to CC? You just have to be 18. I’m pretty sure people have been accepted to the top UC’s without even having a HS diploma, or any equivalent.
