Ok I am a senior in high school now and am going through the whole application process. My GPA in high school is awful and I am terrified that I am not going to get into any of my schools. My high school overall average is 85.6% (not including senior year). And my junior year alone was 87.5%. I am taking pre-calc, physics, and college composition senior year which is good. And for extracurricular activities I should be set. I am looking to do Physical Therapy. My college list is: Ithaca, Clarkson, Daemen, Nazareth and Suny Buffalo. My math SAT was 600 and my english was 540. I am currently doing a job shadow at a Physical Therapy program as well. For recommendations I have my Trigonometry teacher, guidance counselor, and a Physical Therapist I have been shadowing. With my low GPA and average test scores do I have any chance at getting into these schools?
My son is also applying at IC for physical therapy. We actually met with the director of the program who said they take roughly 85 freshman and they get a LOT of applications.
I know that Ithaca and SUNY are both schools that might be a bit of a reach for you, but I don’t know the rest. If you’re really unsure, then find some better safeties. Your GPA isn’t the inhibiting factor, it’s really your SAT score.
I would talk to your guidance counselor, and look at the scattergrams on naviance if you have them.
