Help! I can't really decide which major suit me the best. For the beginning, I love robotic and I enter robotic club in my high school. I love both designing, assembling and also programming part of robotic. Moreover, I also interested in aircraft and also spacecraft and thus, I decided to choose AeroE because it also has some robotic. However, my parents and my seniors told me that getting job in AeroE field is really hard especially for us (international student). Many big aero companies like Boeing requires security clearance or at least a permanent citizenship. Therefore, I decided to choose another major which still have connection with my hobby which is robotic, but I really confused to choose the best major for me to work in robotic field. Should I stay in AeroE or change my major to E.E, MechE or Com Sci (with Artificial Intelligence specialization).

Mechanical Engineering is probably the best choice but Electrical Engineering would be OK too.

I started in aero before moving to EE. I would advise against aero if you are not a US citizen - really anything else would be a better choice. They are correct that Boeing really wants citizens, and a lot of other aero companies are looking for the same just it because it makes you easier to use on government contracts. Aero is a tough field to begin with, and if you can make things easier on yourself by going another route it will probably work out much better for you.

That having been said, you can absolutely have a good career in aero as a foreign national. But it will be tougher and you need to plan accordingly - maintain some solid contingency plans.
