Help for a four-eyes?

My boyfriend wears glasses and he looks great with or without them (in my opinion). His mom is suggesting getting contacts, but he likes his dark-rimmed glasses (he's an artist, must be an artistic thing). He just needs a new pair as these were $12 and he's had them for about a year. Any suggestions on a more mature brand of glasses/look for guys? He's trying to get more into the "hipster"/preppy style, it seems, because he's open to wearing more button-up blouses with the sleeves rolled up in addition to sweater vests and that sort of thing.
Thanks!

i have a pair of black rimmed lacoste ones that i wear occasionally when i can’t see…tell him to look there

I wonder if people would call me three-eyes if I ever got a monocle…

^ It’s not a far-fetched possibility.

go to the glasses store and pick out the one that looks the best

I kinda make fun of hipsters, my friend is one and we ride him on it daily and he even has the glasses though he doesn’t really need them much since his eyes aren’t even that bad.

So my advice is just to make fun of him thinking a pair of glasses is going to complete his trendy coolness look, as if the glasses say “I’m fine with the bold framed look, I don’t care if you think it’s dorky, in fact, I hope you think it’s dorky so I can write a song about how cruel high school is and look amazingly trendy while playing it acoustic”.

lol I’m not sure he thinks it will complete his trendy coolness. To be honest, dark frames do just look good on him. But, since he has them he might as well go on with the entire look. Plus, he does have legitimate talent, so the “artsy” look wouldn’t be a stretch at all.

a lotof hipsterish people get rayband wayfarers and use them as actualglasses.
