Help for a stressed kid!

Hi parents (and perhaps students),

I have been freaking out for the past couple of weeks, like many kids, anxiously awaiting ED decisions. However, I have suddenly reached the phase where I really doubt I'll get in. It's come down to whether they would be willing to admit me based on everything but my grades and class rank. My rank is like in the 28th percentile, but my weighted GPA is a 4.0. My board scores are awesome, my recs and essays are really good, and my ECs are extremely unique (national qualifying debator, fencing, AFS trip), and even my major is unique (Russian Studies). I'm from NC if that makes a difference. This is no chances thread, but I would like to know whether the LAC i applied to (hint: in Vermont) is known for bypassing this type of stuff. Thanks for all your help!

take a deep breath. Play some games or watch some movies. Everything will work out for the best. I hope you have a safety that you would be happy.

This is the Parent's Forum so you probably guessed you'd get some advice like the following:

CHILL.

If you don't get into Super-LAC, there's a 95% chance you'll get in somewhere lovely and you will be HAPPY and FULFILLED and all that good stuff. :)

Don't stress about ED...or RD. Do your best and then let the chips fall. Stressing is not worth it. There's plenty of stressors ahead of you, dear. PLENTY. Someday, for instance, you might be the parent of teenagers!

That one relieved some of my stress. I have to smile about what I used to worry about when I was a kid, now that I have kids of my own.

I have said this before on this board, and it has always been well received - Ice cream is always a good choice - go out for some. You will truly end up where you should be, enjoy the trip.
