Help: Fort Hays State University (BSCS) or Troy University (BSACS) ????

I need help picking the better program. I am an adult student on a very limited budget. I have spent weeks researching online Universities that offer Computer Science Bachelors degrees that I can afford. Fort Hays State University is my first pick due to cost, but Troy University seems to be a better known and more respected school and only slightly more expensive.

It would be an easy decision if Troy had a BS in Computer Science, but they only offer Applied Computer Science. I was thinking of taking a Math Minor and as many CS classes as possible for my electives to try to make up for the difference in the degrees. If you had to choose between the two and only these two, what would you choose? What do you think the impact would be on future potential employment? I am looking to start classes this fall so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I got my bachelor’s in Applied Computer Science and then got my MBA all from Troy University and I work for one of the largest software companies in the world. It’s all about what you know and what you learn along the way.

@jcd2num1: If you don’t mind me asking, what did you end up doing at the software company? I am just trying to get an idea as to what jobs are available to someone with the applied degree. I am also finding that the staff at Troy seems to be much more attentive than that of Fort Hays. So far my experience with Fort Hays admissions had not been a good one. On the flip side Tory has been the best I ever experienced.
