HELP: High School Grades

Okay, so last year (freshman year), I made a B in a World History (Honors) class. I had an A all year, but I bombed a test the last semester (that wasn't even covered by the teacher) ending me up with an 89. I made A's in all my other classes and this year, it's looks as if I will have all A's again. That B is making me sick! I'm beginning to take AP classes next year (Junior year) and my goal is all A's in high school...So my question is: Is there any way I could retake the class, preferably an online course, and eliminate it from my transcript???

NOOOOOO A B, NOOOOOOO

You are doomed to scrub floors at your local fast food chain for the rest of your life.

Good day.

At my school, if you re-take a course, the higher grade will replace the lower grade on your transcript.

However, personally, I think that would be a waste of time unless you got something like a D. For one, most people say that colleges don’t look into your freshman year too much. Secondly, if you re-take the class, it takes up a period that could be used for taking another AP class, or any other challenging course.

If you want my personal opinion, I’d just leave the class be, and use it as motivation to get As in the rest of your classes. :)

I really doubt 1 B is going to kill your chances to any college including HYPSM.

Which colleges don’t look at freshmen grades?

Most state schools don’t put too much emphasis on freshman grades…

Then when you’re calculating GPA would you only count grades 10-12th?

@foodlover: I think that would only hold true for some schools, not all though…

Okay. Do you know of any private colleges that don’t look at freshmen grades?

What we’re trying to tell you is that a single B doesn’t matter. Really.

Sigh One B WILL NOT hurt you. I promise! Yale accepts students with 3.85 GPAs and yes, that means they had a few Bs on their record. If you are aiming for all As., then go for it (It is a valid aspiration) , but do not stress over a B. Rather, make yourself stand out by finding a passion ( unique ECs ) . THAT will make you stand out to top schools.

And @Foodlover001 Not many colleges look at freshman year grades. Princeton and Stanford actually leave the freshman year out of their recalculations of HS GPA. I hope this answers your question.

Bottom Line: Whatever your dream college, be it BC, Yale, Tufts or some other, you are definitely fine! Work hard and good luck!

What @wizkhalifa1 said covers everything. Plain and simple ;)

@Foodlover - I know CMU doesn’t, there are more out there that I am unaware of.

Thank you all for your help! This makes me feel so much better!:)
