if i am in downtown chicago, what is the best, safest way to get to uchicago? so far i have heard a taxi or bus. my parents are against taking a taxi. what do you think?????????? sorry and thanks

Daytime: Bus, #6 is probably easiest for you and then you have to walk (or take a shuttle or the #171/172/173 bus) maybe 15 minutes to campus. Or you can maybe take the #55 depending on where you are. Or you can take the red line and then walk maybe ten minutes to campus.

If it's late at night, take a taxi.

Try the Metra (the commuter train). The downtown Millennium Station is right in the loop by Millennium Park (home of the giant silver bean), get on the Orange line and get off at the UChicago stop. Fairs are cheap ($1.75), its quick (15 mins.), but to have to find a schedule (it doesn't run in the wee hours, ect.)

thank you! i think i will try the commuter train.
