How do I get to Uchicago by train?

Hey I was wondering what stop I should get off at the redline to get to Harper at Uchicago coming from the north side. How much do I have to walk or is there a bus route there that I can take.

Garfield; #55; don't walk.

JHS, in daylight, walking is not out of the question. This is not the 80's or 90's when the projects were still around. Do not stray south, though on foot.

Realistically, though it is a long rather depressing walk and the bus runs frequently although irregularly like all buses. And the bus stop is right on the bridge over the expressway - a terrible place to wait on a cold winter day.

A lot of folks take Metra to 55th, though and walk west about 5 blocks. That is a pretty walk IMHO.

The Garfield (55th St.) stop on the Green Line is close to campus, one can catch a bus there as well. The Red Line Garfield stop is the one over the expressway and is further west.

so...i head east when i get off the redline taking the bus?

Yes, head east. I believe the bus is the 55. You can get off at Ellis and walk south. Do this only during the day. This may be of help as well: http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/tripplanner.html

Another option is getting off the red line while you're in the loop, then catching a 6 bus on State Street (Hyde Park express) and getting off at 57th and Stony Island. The area will be flooded with tourists who are visiting the MSI next door and I think you'll find 57th street quite cute in comparison to what people think when they think of Hyde Park. It will take you longer, but it will make you feel better, I think. I tend to go this way because I'm not a big fan of Garfield.
