Hello all, I read a lot of threads on here so I guess I’m going to make my own post. So, I have been accepted to 9 colleges thus far and applied to 15. Also, I want to be a business major, preferably a major in entrepreneurship. ACT is a 28 and 3.56 GPAI do not know where I want to go! (I am also from New Jersey, and tuition is not a major concern for my family)
Here is where I have gotten into:
University of Vermont - business - 15k scholarship
Binghamton - business
Penn State - business (entrepreneurship)
Rutgers - new brunswick business
U Mass amherst - business - 8k scholarship
Pitt - business
Tampa- honors college, business, entrepreneurship, (tampa is very low ranking)
Maryland - business school
Quinnipiac - business school, entrepreneurship, 96k scholarship (i know wow)
could you guys tell me some stuff about the schools here, I would really appreciate it. I just feel so lost and really do not know where I want to go.
Have you visited any of these schools? Also, would you prefer larger (UMass, Pitt) or small to mid size (Quinnipiac)? What type of setting (including weather, city size, attractions, etc) would you like the campus to be in? Narrowing your options down by determining your preferences will be very helpful I think!
I visited all but Pitt, Tampa, and Bing. And I dont really know if I want big or small. I feel like I will fit in in any size college. I am not a big partier, as I know big colleges are known for that but i would definitely like for their to be plenty of people and lots of opportunities to meet new people. i am also very interested in starting my own business when i am older, which is why i want to major in entrepreneurship. also warm weather is definitely a huge plus. I applied to Elon (NC) and have not heard back yet, that is warm tho!
Hmmm… That’s tricky. Maybe try writing out a pros and cons list of each schools. Start with groups: Northeast, middle, south. Try to determine which area suits you best. Then delve further in by creating a pros and cons list for each school in that winning category. It’ll be hard and there will probably be several options you’d enjoy going to, so in that case I’d say try visiting again/doing an overnight. Worse comes to worse, you go to the school, decide a different one would be better, then transfer! That’s what my mom did, and she says she doesn’t regret attending her first school at all and loves the experience she gained from those 2 years at a different one because of it!
The RPI school of business has a high emphasis on entrepreneurship (and is technology leaning if that’s interesting to you).
Also ranked by Forbes as one of the “most entrepreneurial universities” in US: http://www.forbes.com/sites/liyanchen/2015/07/29/americas-most-entrepreneurial-research-universities-2015/#76491121084a
Update: sorry I thought you were talking about places to apply to, not where you’ve already been accepted. So forget RPI.
Of your list, I’d choose Quinnipiac because it’s smaller and you got a large scholarship (parents can save the tuition towards your MBA). Otherwise, UMass, Maryland or Penn State.
If tuition is no problem, why don’t you go on some more visits? You have time, no decision is required until May 1. Go on a tour, sit in on a class in your area of interest, eat in a cafeteria, etc.
