Help! I don't like my child's essay

My DD has been working on her essay since the summer. Its a slice of life essay but its coming off as rather trite. I guess my biggest disappointment is I know she writes really well, but this is probably not going to win her any admission points. She's overworked it now and at this point I think she should scrap the whole idea and start again. She knows I don't like it but she doesn't really care. She decided to let her English teacher review it, he's had her in class for 2 years so he knows her potential. I hate to harp on this one piece of her application but I just feel like she is capable of so much more.

Has anyone ever been in a similar situation? Any advice?

maybe talk to her english paper? i dont know. my dad didnt like mine, i ended up re-writing the whole thing with a totally different topic, and I like it much better. but i knew for the beginning that it wasnt my best work.

It’s her essay, her application, her life
Let her do what she thinks is best

sorry to break it to you- but it’s her job to do the application- NOT YOURS. she’s going to college, not you.

let her do what she thinks it’s best. offer her advice and encouragement but DO NOT FORCE HER TO DO ANYTHING
