I love my major and I wouldn’t ever want to change that. I’m a journalism major and I want to be an author (I have multiple books I’m working on). One problem. I absolutely hate college. This partially due to the terrible experience I’ve had over the years. I’m a junior, and I’ve had many roommates. Some stole my stuff, some were slobs, some were just flat out cruel to me. I’ve lost every friend I’ve had here. I’m jobless and the clubs at my school are a joke. Partially because I just don’t like going to class, or walking around campus in the blistering heat.
What do I do? I’ve made it so far part of me says try to push through but the other side of me says quit college and do what I love.
I am assuming that you can afford your college. I hope that’s the case. Sorry you’ve had so many horrible roommate experiences. Is there any way you can get a single living situation and just barrel through to the end? Can you afford to take summer classes and graduate early?
Suck it up. The semester will be over before you know it. Then the year. You’ll go back for your senior year, graduate and then it will be on to the next thing. You’re just about there. Done and done! If you don’t stick this out and finish you will regret it for the rest of your life.
I think you should stick it out, you are a junior, you stick it out for another year and you can get a college diploma, and that is very important. If you give up, all the previous three years will be wasted. Although you have encountered many difficulties, but you have learned how to deal with them, haven’t you? I am sure you will know how to handle similar situations in the future.
What can you do to ameliorate the situation?
Get a single? Lock your stuff up?
Go to your COllege Counseling Center and talk to them about the friend issue.
I would suggest trying to make new friends through some kind of service club or intramural team. SOmething where you ahve a common goal.
Maybe you can tell your RA about this situation and figure if you can change another room. Try to make more friends because there always good guys around you. I so sorry to here that you have those terrible experience.
