HELP! I made a mistake on my essay!

Hello,

I applied to QB, and before the deadline, I copied and pasted all the essays onto the application portal. I made sure to proofread, and at that time, everything looked fine to me. However, after I submitted my essay, I looked back at the application preview to make sure everything was submitted correctly when I noticed a huge mistake with the last sentence of the essay.
It read like: " I am so"
It should’ve been: “I am so grateful to have taken that bus.”
It’s the last sentence of the essay so it doesn’t add much detail, but it’s still pretty obvious.

I tried contacting QB (before the application deadline) but they didn’t let me change it. I want to submit this application to schools, but I’m scared it’s going to have a negative impact on my application.

Do you think that mistake will be a make or break? I want to hear from those who have made mistakes on their college essays and the results.

Thanks!

You probably went over your word count and it cut off the rest. If QB won’t let you change it, then you don’t have any choice. Just reduce your word count a bit for submitting it to other colleges. I don’t think this is a dealbreaker, tbh.

Thanks! To be clear, I didn’t go over the word limit since QB replied to me saying I had 4 words left. I think the application portal had a glitch and cut off the words.

Questbridge is likely familiar with technical issues like these. Given that it’s the last sentence of your essay and the meaning is inferred, I think it shouldn’t affect your application significantly!
