HELP. I sent in all of my things for my application on time but...!

I keep checking online to see the status of all of my stuff I sent to Boston College and Boston University (which I sent at the same time) and they don't have one of each of the things I sent?!

My guidance counselor put her rec letter in with my senior grades (same envelope), and BC got both, but BU only got one of them? How is that even possible if both documents were in it TOGETHER (each school got their own envelope, obviously)?

Same goes for BC though - I sent my fee waivers to BU and BC at the exact same time and only BU got them...this is beginning to worry me because it's break now and I can't call to find out what's going on. All I know is that I don't want this to interfere with my getting my application squared away. The senior grades isn't a big deal because BU graciously (and intelligently) extended the deadline to the 4th of January, so I could fax it to them after having my counselor redo them, but the fee waiver can't be faxed...that seems sketchy. Not to mention, I don't even think BC allowed their deadline to be extended. What do I do?!

It is possibly a problem with document processing. I’m sure they are in a room somewhere in the respective institution waiting to be added to your file.

How will I know before it’s too late? BU I can call on Monday when they reopen for business and ask, but BC might not make me so lucky.

Don’t worry. I mean, I KNOW why you’re worried. But it’s usually the POSTMARK (or similar electronic notation as to when requested), that is the proof. Also, I just had an Ivy tell me “no worries” when my D wanted to apply late, but couldn’t get her transcripts/etc in on time. Lastly…no one can account for the mail. I just got something in my office today (12/28) postmarked from the U.S. on December 17th. It’s just tough at this time of year, everything is delayed. They’re not in the office anyway. They just want all the paperwork waiting when they get back. It takes a long time for EACH individual piece of information to be scanned, data entered, connected to your number/file. It could be weeks before it actually shows on your end of the account. This happened to my D. Took about 2 weeks after sending (electronically) before we showed her SAT score as “received”. It’s there, no worries. It’s just not gone through those many hands that are entering it and affixing it to your account. Good luck.

So long as your part is in, then you’ve met the deadline. Recs, grades, and post office delays aren’t under your control. So, you’re done. Relax and enjoy the holidays!

Ahhhh thanks guys! I feel relieved now - I just didn’t want that messy stuff to count against me and then I find out too late that I could have done something. All the best, and happy holidays all!
