Hi i was just accepted to UCSC for fall of 2011 as an ecology major. I am currently taking 16 units at my community college and willl be completing 60 units. The bad part is that i might need to drop a class.... (physics).... Will this affect my admission if i only have 54 units to transfer? can i make them up in summer? I am afraid if i stay in physics i will get a C in the class and lowering my GPA. What is the better option?

PS i was not accepted under the TAG program

It is better to get a C in the class, because as long as you get a C they cannot take your acceptance. If you decide to drop the class you will not be able to transfer. however I have heard that you can take classes that are not major requirements or transfer requirements such as Math and English. I would consult the UCSC admissions office by email to be sure. In my opinion a C is better than not transferring at all!

I don’t know how UCSC’s transfer works, as in do you have to have a certain amount of credits to transfer, so you should find that out.

Best option would be to call UCSC and tell them exactly what is going on and they will tell you whether dropping it will do anything to your admission. If they say you have to have 60 credits take the C in physics. Also I thought when you transfer from CC to UC your gpa there becomes 0.00 (as in your CC GPA does not transfer over to the UC…you just restart).
