HELP, I'm getting bad anxiety

I applied to only 2 schools one of them being Stony Brook University and the other is my safety. I have a 1230 sat score and 94 gpa, will I get in with these stats? All my friends heard back if they were rejected or accepted except for me and April 1st is coming soon… My major is undecided if that has to do with anything

I have no real insight to offer, sorry.

But why not apply to one or two others now, and make up your mind later?

What is your safety?

There are plenty of SUNY schools that will be happy to get someone with your stats. Apply tonight.

@gallentjill Suny Albany but sbu is the only school I wanna go to, it’s perfect for nursing

Are you already admitted at your safety? Is that a direct admit for nursing? If yes to both of those, you are fine. An admit to SBU would be like icing on the cake.

@happymomof1 actually I applied as undecided to both schools but now I’m sure I want to pursue nursing. I’m admitted to my safety but I would hate to go to ualbany

What do you need to do to get into the nursing program at Albany if you are admitted as an undecided major? That is the real question. Since you do now know what you want to study, it might make best sense to take a gap year, retake the SAT, and apply to a new list with the nursing major in mind.

@happymomof1 thank you i wish I was able to take a gap year easily but I really can’t for personal reasons. My main concern right now is if i am getting into SBU

What’s your backup plan if you don’t get into SBU?

@austinmshauri go to ualbany and then transfer to sbu as soon as possible

I really hope it doesn’t have to come to that but maybe it will have to because of my stats

Does SBU take nursing transfers? How competitive is transfer admission?

@austinmshauri it’s probably really competitive maybe more than regular admissions, that’s why I’m praying I get in now

You need to do some research on admission to the nursing major at both universities. You need a plan for dealing with that. So yes, a gap year might not look feasible right now, but it might turn out to be the best option for your long range goals.

LOTS Of schools, from Molloy to Holy Family in PA, are “perfect for nursing.” Send out more applications ASAP and give yourself more wiggle room.

It sounds like there’s a good chance you’ll be going to SUNY Albany, but not necessarily for nursing. If that happens, when you apply for transfer admission make sure you apply to more than SBU. You need a real safety.

Would the situation be different if I wasn’t doing nursing?

Nursing programs are generally quite competitive and selective, so I would say yes.

you mentioned that your sat score was of 1230 and a gpa of 94. If anything you should’ve switched your app to regular admissions… EOP tends to accept students closer to the 1000’s and 1100’s who have 80-ish averages. You have more of a chance applying regularly. Call the admissions office.
