HELP! Internship vs. Management Position

Hey Guys,

I have somewhat of a career dilemma that needs resolution within the next month or so. I am currently an undergraduate junior at a business school, majoring in supply chain management. I am in the midst of looking for internships for spring 2015 (my school has a lot of semester internships available). I don't think I'll have an issue getting something applicable to my major. I have also been advised to get a full time summer internship, as it helps with networking and future job searches.

HOWEVER... I also have a summer management position, where I am responsible for the operation of an entire facility. I have 15-20 employees underneath me, and I handle everything from hiring, to budgeting, to programs, purchasing, etc....you name it. I also advise the facility's Board of Directors on strategic initiatives. Overall, I have a lot of responsibility, especially for someone my age. Plus, I absolutely love the job and everything about it, and am making great professional connections there.

Obviously, I cannot do a full time summer job AND a full time internship. Which should I choose? My parents really want me to get an internship due to the appeal to future employers, but I love my current management position and think it's great for my resume and for networking as well.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. THANKS!!!!

What exactly is this management position?

Panda… I am the Director of a seasonal recreational facility. I’m responsible for all aspects of the operation… managing all employees and a $30k payroll budget, manage all purchasing and deliveries, execute recreational programs and events, etc. While the facility is open seasonally, my position involves year-round tasks including planning, budgeting, etc.

Does that answer your question?
