Hi, I am a Taiwanese raised in Taiwan. At home, I speak Chinese with my family and I am confident that I will score 800 on the SAT Chinese Subject test. However, I have also studied Japanese for 4 years now and feel pretty confident that I can score over 700 but cannot guarantee a score over 750. I will also have great scores on both the physics and math IIC SAT so either language will be the third SAT subject test. So does anyone have suggestions on whether I should to take SAT Chinese or Japanese?

I would take Chinese and get an 800. However, I don’t know if that would look weird because you are Taiwanese and you took the Chinese SAT. But it’s up to you.

Hello fellow Taiwanese! (My mom is Taiwanese from Tainan.)

Take both. It will look really good.

no matter what, take the Japanese, you can take Chinese as a bonus, but doing well in a language you don’t speak at home looks much better than doing perfect on a language you’ve spoken your whole life.
