With this schedule, my first period will be filled (I don't like that; it's senior year u feel me?) So even though I'll be done with 1 semester of psych already, I'm thinking on dropping it and take on online AP stats instead (1 sem course). Besides, Psych is so easy it's annoying. I'm actually borderlining an A right now just because I can pretty learn the entire course just by wikipedia-ing "psychology"...

PS. I'm also doing a physics internship (which is probably going to be pretty consuming) and after I try to rush through that with my best work, I'll try to sneak by the school with doing 2, if not 3 sports AT THE SAME TIME (soccer, track and tennis) w00T

haven't you ALREADY decided your coursework? from the looks of it, you already know what you're doing.

my only suggestion is that you shouldn't drop AP Psych. it's one of the best classes i ever took! and the AP exam was SO simple. i got a 5 on it, easily. (i'm not of those people who get 5's on every AP exam i take)

You either mention all your AP test scores or none at all. Colleges don't like it when you pick out your best AP scores and don't show them the whole truth.

hak, I'm doing a fairly difficult course load along with internship and sports. I'm not taking both psych and stats. psych is just too time consuming and I don't think that it's worth it. My time could be better spent sleeping in the mornings. So I want to know if I should take up stats and drop psych

Take your intended major into consideration. Both stats and psych are courses that you will probably take in college regardless of your majors. If you're in business, engineering or any medical field, you will be taking statistics. But if you're leaning towards the medical field, I'd probably advise taking psychology. In most medical fields, students generally have requirements of psychology courses beyond Psych 101. A couple other majors that have psychology requirements include teaching, public relations and marketing.

I took AP Psychology last year - LOVED it. I am currently taking AP Statistics. Statistics isn't that hard (first semester reiterated probability rules and stuff that you should have learned from prior math courses). I didn't think Psychology wasn't that hard either. I guess it really depends on your learning style and personal preference. Like any math course, you're gonna have homework in Statistics every single day and I personally find math lectures to be pretty boring. For psychology, there is a LOT more reading, but it's easily understandable and it is way more interesting. I thought psychology was more of an independent course, because honestly the only homework I ever had in that class was to read the book. If you just read the book, you'll do fine in the class. I read the book ONCE (when it was assigned throughout the semester), and did really well on the AP exam.

I'm not sure what level of math 267 is... so you might want to take into consideration that you'll be doubling up in math if you take statistics.

the thing is, though, I feel reluctant to drop either course? I mean if there's something I could drop, it'd be AP english. But I'm looking to get a good bases before going to college. Because when I go to college, my classes are probably all going to specialize toward my intended major. So while I'm in HS, I'm trying to build a nice, well rounded bases - I hope you don't mean that I'd have to take psych again in college, in which case, screw both of em.

I would say a definite NO to dropping AP Lang. Colleges want to see you take an English class every semester in high school.

Most often than not, you'd probably end up taking a psychology course in college. It's just one of those subjects that is applicable to many different fields, whether you realize it or not. UNLESS you test out of psychology by taking the AP exam with a score of 3, 4, 5 (depending on the college).

Hmm well looking at your schedule, I'd say that AP Lang and AP Government are definite. You could always take out your orchestra elective for room? Or maybe consider taking out Advanced Journalism? Because technically, you'll be doubling in English credits, and AP Lang > Advanced Journalism by far. I don't know. Just a few thoughts. It's your schedule. You make the final decision. If you really like those electives, then stay with it.
