I am a senior in high school and I am trying to narrow my reach schools down to 2-3. If anyone could tell me which schools they think I have the best shot of getting into, I would really appreciate it.
4.36 weighted GPA, 3.94 unweighted GPA
31 ACT
Top 10% of class
Strong EC: President of National Honors Society, student government secretary, president of leadership club at my school, competitive dancer and teacher, a ton of volunteer work, etc.
White female
All honors/AP classes
5 Academic honors/awards
Undecided major but leaning towards IR or
My reach schools are: Georgetown, Emory, Wash U, Rice, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, U Penn, Notre Dame, USC
AGAIN, I know I have a low shot at getting into any but which ones are my chances highest? Thank you!
Would agree with vandemory1342 about USC and then next Emory. I think your ACT score may perhaps hold you back from NU or UPenn in the regular decision pool.
Also make sure that any school you apply to would be one that satisfies what you want in a college and that you’re not only looking at them because they’re great schools.
If you are interested in IR, maybe you should try Georgetown anyway, even if the chances are not so high. Unlike some of your schools, Georgetown doesn’t have ED, and EA probably wouldn’t have helped much, so RD is at least not a disadvantage.
My D had the same GPA (top 7%), slightly higher scores, ECs maybe a little below yours. She didn’t get into Georgetown or Penn, but did get Spring Admit at USC (decided not to go). So maybe do Georgetown and USC, and whatever one or two others you like best with RD acceptance rates that are not extremely low (so maybe not Penn or NU). I think 4 reaches can be OK, even if 9 is not.
