I'm currently at a ccc right now. I will be applying for Fall 07. I was wondering if UCI and UCSB are good enough safties for me or are they matches for me. Should I also apply to UCR?

I really don't want this time to be a repeat of the time i applied as a freshman, where I was rejected from all the schools I applied to. I didn't really think about safeties then and I had ccc as my option. But this time around I really don't have any options left, so i'm really considering safeties.

I'm a biological science major.

Stats:
current gpa is 3.88, but that could drop because i still have ochem and bio to take.
I will finish all prereq's and igetc by the time i transfer.

I will apply as a biological science major for uci, and physiology for ucsb.
Thanks in advance.

ha, they are both safeties for you. I'm pretty sure you'll get the invite to UCSB honors, as I did, and my gpa is quite lower than yours (3.7ish at time of application)

Yea I agree with CardinalFocused... you should be aiming at either Berkeley or UCLA. You'll most def. get into UCI, but I didn't apply to UCSB so I have no idea about that school.

Thanks for the reply guys. Actually UCLA is my first choice. I will be applying to Berkeley and LA. I'm just looking for safeties in order to keep my options open.

I'm not in the TAG program, even though my school offers it lol. I would do it if the classes they require overlap with the classes i need to take. Its even more work than the TAP program with ucla lol (which i'm not in either :)). I need to take more classes, such as two semester of a foreign language. Since I'm a science major, I have enough classes to take already. I would probably do it if i was a different major. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Btw, it just occured to me. Isn't there a guarentee program with uci? Does anyone know how that works?

dudeee with a 3.88 gpa in a non impacted major you really have nothing to worry about. I say you're in at SD and I for sure and you have like a 99% chance at UCLA and CAL.
