Okay not completely, but I've had a bad cold the past few days and it doesn't seem to wanna go away. It started on Monday with a runny nose and a sore throat. Tuesday and Wednesday the sore throat kinda went away. I got some Claritin-D and took it last night, and it seemed OK until I woke up in the middle of the night in a coughing fit. All of today I've had a cough and a somewhat runny nose.

Any home remedies that have worked for you?

I got sick like that the first week of school last year. Rest, food, and copious amounts of ibuprofen made it manageable until it went away on its own-- and remember to keep drinking water. When I have a sore throat and fever, I don’t know what it is, but if I can get some warm food in me I feel loads better. Sudafed cough and cold wouldn’t hurt either.

I’m in the same boat. Bad cough all week, now I’m freezing with a runny nose. It’s been going around campus like wildfire, but I’m used to it. College life :(

Lots of orange and food that will make your throat feel better…sometimes I like spicy food, like salsa, when my throat hurts. When I get home this weekend I’m demanding we go out and eat Mexican Don’t take too much medication for just your common cold. Some of the common drugs we use to make ourself feel better can do a lot more harm than good if we take a lot of it.

I’m sure since you’re feeling sick you won’t want to go out, but if you start feeling better one evening and think you might want to, remember - DO NOT mix alcohol and painkillers! Maybe it’s not helpful for you, but I’ve been about to pop a Tylenol or two before a night out and my friend freaked out on me.

If your cough has mucus, you should get an expectorant like mucinex. Sounds like you’re sick sick, not allergies, but if it IS allergies I know that Zyrtec helps me a ton, and doesn’t make me drowsy like Benadryl.

after first year, i have a druggie stash of over the counter goods. just get dayquil and nyquil… drink tons of water and if you can make yourself tea.
Theraflu that you heat up with water is nasssssty but works really well.

If you have prolonged green and unusually smelly mucus (or any trouble breathing), get yourself checked out for a bacterial infection secondary to a viral infection.
