Help me make a decision? UH, UT

Okay, an update on that thread. I was accepted to the UT Austin COLA. Was not accepted to Engineering (probably due to not having Calc)

So I'm left with an ultimatum. I really want to graduate from UT with a B.S. Comp Eng. So, I'm left with this, attend UH for one full year, take 4 classes there and 1-2 classes at HCC, all while doing EC's.

OR

Stay at HCC one more additional year and go through all the Prereqs to take Calc. and Phys.

I really don't want to go through another year at HCC, but then again I can go to UH which I can accelerate since I can take Calc and Phys. since UH doesn't have a prereq and you can test out (you can't test out in HCC, you MUST to the prereqs)

Any advice? And sorry if I didn't make myself clear, I'm writing this from my phone so.

Can you get into UT first and then transfer your major afterwards?

Yeah I can do that, since I did get into COLA. But, then again I’m a bit undecided on what to do now.

Edit:

Stay at UH one full year, get Calc, out of the way and transfer, or do HCC and do all prereqa asap, after that get try UT Eng. again?

I’m about to finish my Freshman year.

I would go to UT first and see how it goes.

you never know whats gonna happen if you missed this chance of getting into UT.

Dude, to me this a no brainer.

UT = Tier One University in Texas, considered the best school in Texas after Rice. If you had to graduate from here or spend an extra year here because it took that long to internal transfer, it’d be worth it since you’d be set.

And also, how can you assume you’ll get accepted into UT again after you re-apply? Or that your GPA won’t take a hit? Or that something won’t go wrong in your life and bring down your college chances?

I’m not saying anything of that will happen, but call the Engineering school and inquire about internal transfer. Even if you take some classes that won’t count toward your ultimate degree, they might count as electives. Either way, you’ll be in the safe zone at a school that’s ranked number 47.

Think about it.
