Should I stay or should I go... What would YOU do!?

I know what I'm gonna do but I'd like to get your opinion:

I really want to study aerospace engineering but I lack the calculus credit, so I went for CNS instead (Asronomy) and got in.

I'm excited to study astronomy but I'm really interested in AE. I've been hearing everywhere how hard it is to internal transfer into Cockrell. But If I were to reject UT's offer this year, I think I can get in next year if I retake econ (got a c) and get an A in Pre cal, cal1, trig, and Physics . If i did that I'll have a 3.8. I'm currently taking trig and Physics

What would YOU do???

I decided to attend UT in the Fall by the way :)

dont take precal cal 1 and trig all in one semester

personally…dont even take precal or trig

i was told to take college algebra…by my community college advisor
i ignored it and took calculus 1…i made an A perfectly fine
im making an A right now in calc 2

if i were to listen to that advisor i’d be SOOOO far behind

if you’re bright enough…you can figure out how to do trig and precal stuff as you go in CALC 1

if you really want to…take precal during the summer…and then calc 1 in the fall
but like i said…i skipped it and i’m doing fine
im actually about to take differential equations this summer…i never took precal or trig(although i did have precal for a summer in high school and AP calculus AB in high school i just didnt take the ap test for the credit)

What CC/Univ. did you go to?? I wanted to do exactly that but every math class at Cedar Valley College has pre-requisites. I’m taking trig now, because I cant take pre-cal without it, and I cant take Cal 1 without Pre Cal. It Blows!

I think UT’s Calculus 1 has a prereq, Pre cal. so I will just take that in the summer.

austin community college

i dunno why but i was able to take my courses all out of order…

i took genetics even tho i needed intro bio still

i made an A in genetics…in the spring of 2011, then took intro biology fall 2011

thats about all i took out of order though…
i think at acc it’s up to the professor to drop you out of the class if you dont have prereqs done

i remember the first day of class i told my genetics prof…“i have had ap biology in high school…so im sure ill do fine in this class”

same thing for my calculus prof also

i might have been given leeway because my high school transcript said i made B’s and A’s my senior year in AP classes that I didnt even need to take to graduate

my senior year i needed econ and english to graduate

instead i took econ,english,bio,calc,chem,latin

didnt take a single end of the year AP test for college credit because i didnt feel as though i learned enough.

granted…at my high school “AP” really means just regular difficulty

non-ap is STUPID EASY
lets not even talk about how unnecessary it is for a kid to have a high school degree if “regular” or “non-ap” classes are as easy as they are(at least at where I went to high school)

i was a late bloomer…i started trying in school my junior year after i had a bunch of c’s and b’s. so i made up for it by learning a bunch of stuff senior year(well at least the first 3/4 of senior year) =]

hopefully with my 3.8 gpa i can get into cockrell or at least natural science

Oh well… I’m happy. I’ll be studying Aerospace Engineering eventually. In the meantime, Astronomy will be filling my brain. Good luck to you, I’m sure you’ll get a decision soon! :)

I hear you can transfer after your first semester even. Just keep up the good work I’m sure you’ll be able to get in. Thanks…I’m super anxious…idk why its taking so long!
