Help me out here

OK so Im on the 4th leg of my college search and im sitting here in the holiday inn of ann arbor. we just walked around the umich campus..... and its rough. i expected something totally different...and im just extremely dissapointed. so my dad decided that we should skip the umich tour and head somewhere else.... he suggest east lansing...and we'd look at msu.......... are there any other universities around here at? thanks.... sorry about not capitalizing the letters the shift key doesnt work

thanks

Hillsdale in Hillsdale further south of you (extremely conservative), Hope in Holland, Aquinas College in Grand Rapids (Catholic, but rather small campus compared to ND, set in the woods in a nice part of town. I think the campus is pretty but it's better when there are leaves on the trees), Grand Valley State University in Allendale (great food, if that matters at all. Pretty campus)

That's all I've got. They're all over in terms of academics. What didn't you like about U of M? I'd still suggest taking the tour, unless you were really hell-bent against the school after your walking-arounds. It's definitely not ND, that's for sure. Very different.

Kalamazoo is a good college in Michigan.

I do not know if it would fit your style since it is a liberal arts college.

I am assuming that Michigan's massive size did the trick.

I second ducktape's suggestion to take the tour anyway. It's high ranking must mean something! And in all sincerity, it's really hard to look at any university after Notre Dame. The size, campus, feeling...is not easily found elsewhere...that's why it's Notre Dame.

Otherwise, head on over to my state and check out Wisconsin! Another massive school, but sports crazy and fun. Madison is great city.

I second the Hillsdale or Kalamazoo. I think those are both good options!

I sorry, I completely forgot to mention we also toured Hillsdale with our oldest daughter. It's in a small (and very nice) town, but we were stunned at the facilities. For a smaller college (D-3), they were the best we saw with a large football stadium, and Olympic size pool/swimming facilities. A gorgegous arts building, great people. Very committed to outstanding academics. Really first rate! It's a unique school and there is much to appreciate. Definately worth a look.

Yes, chillin, if you're still in Michigan, swing on over to Kalamazoo College. Of course, as a small, private LAC, a VERY different atmosphere from U-M, but high quality, rigorous academics and a liberal-leaning student body. It's a straight shot down I-94 from Ann Arbor, about an hour or so.

Hey thanks everyone

We just decided to head up to East Lansing. It was huge, but I enjoyed walking the campus.

I always thought that Id attend Umich if I didnt get into Notre Dame, but I guess I need to rethink that. I could see why people could like it, dont get me wrong, but its just not my style.

thnks everyone
