What you guys Think? TT

GPA could be higher by a lot. It’s kind out of of the range for Brandeis. Make sure you apply to a lot of safeties.

Unless you have a “major” hook and a world-class compelling story to tell, I don’t see you getting into Brandeis.

Those stats are probably more in line with a 3rd-tier state college or something similar. Most competitive private universities are going to have a hard time excepting a candidate who has only a high math SAT score to offer.

I fully agree with soze and light10491. You should be looking at a totally different class of schools.

On the other hand, as an international student who is strong in math and science, you will be given some leeway in your reading score. As to your GPA, it depends on the school you are coming from, how tough the grading system is, and how you compare to other students there. I think that you have a chance.

i for sure think you have a chance and a very good one… you have 3 basically perfect sat 2 grades… perfect 800 in math sat… yes your reading is low but they understand english is not your first language… its just your gpa that seems to be the problem…

ntrading:

He might have a remote chance, but certainly not a “very good one.”

And even if by some miracle he was to be accepted, how would he ever graduate?

A 2.5 in high school with SATs like that would translate to about a 1.5 at Brandeis, where you have a distribution requirements and will have to take exams and write papers in English.

Do you think Brandeis is easier than his HS, where he didn’t even come close to cracking 3.0?

I don’t see how he would get past the University Writing Seminar freshman year, let alone complete degree requirements, etc.

His best chance for a school like Brandeis would be try a large state university (admission to which will be a reach for him at any rate) try and get some excellent grades and then transfer.
