ok i know im asking this question kind of late... few days before sir is due. but uci or ucsb.
I most likey want to do accounting and be able to take CPA. i got accepted to uci business econ) and ucsb( econ and accounting) what are the difference between these two? i know uci has accounting minor but is it competitive? can any1 give me some advice. uci is closer to my home which i like but idk.

Yes it is competitive. I think the average gpa is ~ 3.7 .

I would choose UCSB. They already have a nice accounting program that sends plenty of students to the big 4. But if it cost too much then choose UCI. I think both schools will be fine.

I would say both schools are equal pretty much although UCI’s grad MBA program is TOP 50 in the country so that may give their school a little more credit… But overall consider the environment… The schools are very different in terms of campus culture… UCI is more of a commuter school and UCSB is known for their parties and social life… I hear UCI has by far the best on campus housing and UCSB has a huge housing shortage…

Have you toured either school? Overall I think you can’t make a bad decision but I would research both campus environments… You can read reviews from other students on y e l p.com or college p r o w l er .com

Best bet would be to tour both campus’s or spend the day in Santa Barbara but it may be a little late for that! ha

good luck.

right now they’re both about par.

choose based on the environment and the cost. Also consider the courses you’ll take.

UCI does have a solid business program though and it’s climbing up through the ranks rapidly though. Research Merage. It’s probably harder to get into than Haas at this point.

according to wiki

thanks guy for your advice. im planning to visit ucsb in a few hours and stay with a friend and hes going to give me a tour. ill see how i like it then make my decision.
