Help me put these colleges into my prespective.

So, i am a junior in high school right now, its a private catholic school in New York.
I just wanted to see what these colleges would be to me (safety, match, reach)
My Stats:
Junior in High School
GPA:3.6-3.7/4(My school doesnt tell your GPAs, i have a 90 average)
SAT: 1720(R-540;M-600;W-580)I am definitely taking them again and also the ACTs
Class Rank: Unknown, but most likely somewhere in the top 40%
Leadership: Attending New York Boys State this summer, in 4 clubs, some community service. Had a job since sophomore year. In NHS.
Colleges(Mostly for Engineering):
Villanova
Boston U
UDelaware
Bucknell
Carnegie Mellon
Lafayette
Lehigh
Manhattan College
Virginia Tech
Vanderbilt

Thanks to anyone who helps me out.

Just based on your stats… (can you give # of APs?)

Villanova: Reach
Boston U: Reach
UDelaware: Low Reach
Bucknell: ???
Carnegie Mellon: High Reach
Lafayette: High Reach
Lehigh: Reach
Manhattan College: ???
Virginia Tech: ???
Vanderbilt: High Reach

Get some safeties/matches becuase you basically have all reaches.

Hmm… how about SUNY Oneonta/ SUNY New Paltz for a safety/match respectively.

Question marks?
and im not going to any SUNYs

i think udel is more of a match

Admissions will be very different next year. Schools will be accepting more than this year and therefore have to take less off their waitlist. If you don’t request financial aid your chances will go up. The worse the economy gets the better your chances.

Villanova - match
Boston U - match
UDelaware - match
Bucknell - reach
Carnegie Mellon - reach
Lafayette - match
Lehigh - reach
Manhattan College - safety
Virginia Tech - match
Vanderbilt - reach

I agree with WaitingDad, except for Lafayette. The Easton, PA LAC hovers somewhere in the netherworld between match and reach.

The three hardest schools to get into on that list are Vanderbilt, Lehigh and Carnegie Mellon. Unless the OP has a hook, he can forget them.

Excellent chances at Manhattan. Villanova (ony 2 kids out of 11 got in here from our school and both were in the top 15% with SAT scores in the mid 2000s) has become very difficult to get into. Bucknell, CMU, Lafayette, Lehigh and Vanderbilt are reaches. Don’t know on the others. Best of luck! poi

Of the ones I know well…

Carnegie Mellon - Not getting in
Vanderbilt - Not getting in
Villanova - Reach
Lehigh - Reach
Virginia Tech - High match / slight reach

Virginia Tech seems to be a definite reach
If you’re really interested in going to one school in particular, I’d reccomend applying early to a school.
