My problem: I screwed up my freshman year of high school. I can’t really excuse it, but in all honesty I was kind of overwhelmed from depression and loneliness having moved from Canada to a place where I had absolutely no friends (that’s all changed now,) My GPA is pretty bad. It’s about 3.3-3.4, so about the minimum of a B+ in the high 80’s. Something that’s unusual about me is my test scores. ACT is a 34 (10 on Writing, 34 on English, 34 on Math, 36 on Reading, and 32 on Science) and my SAT is 2310 (800 Writing, 800 Critical Reading, 710 Math). All my AP Exam scores are 5’s (US History, Biology, Music Theory, Chinese, and Computer Science). These are in total contrast with my GPA. However, my GPA has been rising steadily (I had a 3.0 last year) but I’m still stressed out. I’m aiming for schools like University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) , Michigan State, University of Toronto, and my dream school is Columbia lol. While I am constantly improving, I’m currently a junior with 3 semester left, and if I keep a 4.0 every semester, I’ll about about a 3.6-3.7 by the time I graduate. How should I keep myself motivated to keep studying and working hard while organizing my time? What are my chances at getting into U of M Ann Arbor, you think? My transcript shows a steady trend, but it weighs down the other stuff on my transcript. Other stuff notable on my resume include Top 10 Finish in the State Debate Competition, 2-time DECA State Runnerup, Varsity Tennis for 3 years (Captain next year), and some other things. Also, can someone answer questions on transfer? I was thinking I might just go to MSU (excellent school, top 60 or 50 in the world) with a scholarship to save money, and then go to U of M for 2-3 years, but I have a lot of questions. Lastly, my class schedule as of now is AP Calculus BC, AP Lang, AP Microeconomics, AP Chemistry, AP Gov’t, and Anatomy/Physiology. PLEASE HELP ME STOP STRESSING
you definitly can get into some of these schools because colleges like to see an upward trend and its a good thing your worse grades are in your freshman year, I have the same issue but worrying about it isn’t gonna change anything.
Try to do your best to make up for it!
could you chance me back?

What’s your parents’ budget?
Should we assume you’re in-state for Michigan?
What general field would you like to study (ie., engineering, foreign languages…?)
UMich may be a reach but you shoul apply, you never know.
Michigan State is a logical choice; add Albion, Kettering if you’re into STEM fields,
Hope if you’re Christian and are looking for strength in the sciences.
How far from home would you be willing to look?
Some universities, like Wash U (St Louis) love high stats even though it’d be a high reach based on your profile.
Parents budget is pretty high at about 25000$. I’m in state for Michigan, yeah. I’m thinking Arts and Sciences (LSA). Is transferring a viable option, after a year or two from MSU to U of M?
