help my admission got revoked

well today i found out that uc santa barbara revoked my admissions/......i got a d in english and it was my first d in my life.....i have never gotten a d in my life......im taking the class right now and im going to appeal it........what do u guys think and what shou8ld i do

Are you retaking the class over the summer? Call UCSB admissions and see if they'll accept you if you get a passing grade.

yeah they told me to appeal it when i have taken the class over

Then you won't be able to appeal until you've finished taking the class.

Unfortunately the UCs are very strict when it comes to what GPA you must maintain in order to remain eligible for you spot.

I'm curious as to how clear cut they were in their admissions letter about the grades that would cause them to rescind. Did they mention a GPA or "D"'s specifically?

Hopefully, you will get a good grade in the summer course and this will just become a bad memory rather than costing your admission. Best of luck - I feel for you.

Retake the class and work your butt off--and then when you appeal, make an effort to demonstrate to UCSB that it was a fluke, that you are responsible and accountable are are eager and prepared to take on the challenge of college work and succeed at it. They don't want whining or excuses, but rather evidence that you know how to take responsibility and how to turn a negative situation around.

Take the class. Dont just pass it, do great. Like, get an A. Then they should re-accept you, or un-rescind you, or whatever you wanna call it.

I'm not sure about all UCs, but UCLA was very specific. Their admission contract said GPA could not drop below a 3.0, one or two Cs okay, no more than that. No Ds or Fs in anything.

well when i callled them they told me because of my d i had a's and b's a c and a d.my gpa was good.....do u guys think theyll accept me again

If you pass the class UCSB will most likely accept you again because as much as it sucks to say it, you're a guaranteed student meaning a profit to the school.

However, when you got your D in Eng, did you immediately contact SB, tell tehm waht happened? Or did you let them find out on their own? That may affect things as well.

UCSB is a public, non-profit institution.

Your D in English essentially resulted in an automatic revocation. UCs require 4 years of high school English for admission with a C grade or higher. You were thus revoked because you did not complete the required high school coursework. You likely have a good chance of appeal as long as you complete the retake course and grade well.

good luck Jessica ... I hope everything turns out well for you!

so u r guys re saying theyll accept me....well the lady also told me their is a slight chance theyll accept me....what do u guys think

I would believe the lady who works in the admissions office over anonymous posters on an internet forum.

"so u r guys re saying theyll accept me....well the lady also told me their is a slight chance theyll accept me....what do u guys think"

No one here actually said they will definitely accept you, only that you a decent shot on appeal if you complete the retake with a good grade. If you are asking if readmission is certain, the answer is no. If you are asking whether your chances are high enough that you can just sit back and see what happens without exploring alternatives, the answer is also a definite no. You need a back-up plan in the event you are not readmitted because there is a significant risk you may not be, and that means exploring other possible college choices if any others may still be willing to accept you at this late date.

well i think im going to cal state san bernardino
