Hello.
So for high school, I went to one of the most rigorous schools in the nation. I am genuinely a smart kid but I was not able to adjust to the extremely difficult schedule of the school and my GPA suffered and became a 2.7. However, despite this I am still on track to earn an IB Diploma, I have a 3.3 weighted GPA, earned a 1230 on my SAT and still have dreams to become an engineer in the future. I have been really stressed out because I have yet to get into any schools, including my safety schools, despite knowing I am capable of bigger things. Any tips ?? I really believe I am a smart kid and despite my GPA not showing it and really just want to know when would be an appropriate time to start stressing out.
No one can tell you when to start stressing out, esp. if you haven’t said where you’ve applied. If it is only to the Ivy League, I’d say, stress out! But probably you applied to a range of schools. Did you use Naviance? If so, did you apply to school(s) where it is extremely likely you’ll be accepted? If yes, then don’t stress. If no, consider applying to a school where your stats are in the very top of the applicant pool so there is an excellent chance of admission.
Have you been rejected by your safety or you haven’t receive a response yet?
Where have you applied, and what decisions are still outstanding? What’s your home state? You may need to add some more safeties. There’s no reason you should be shut out if you choose your targets appropriately. (In fact, as you’ve already experienced, gaining acceptance to a program that’s too rigorous can backfire.) What’s your highest level of math, and your sub-score breakdown?
