I have a few questions and would appreciate it if someone could help me out...

1) Is it OK to base the schools you are interested in off of their athletics? I personally wouldnt play any D1 sports, but I'd like a school with a good athletic program = school spirit
Is it OK to base choices off of that?

2) I live in PA and have 4 schools I am interested in visiting in VA (Richmond, James Madison, W&M and UVA). I can only visit two. My SAT is a 1330/2060 and I have a 3.6-3.7 GPA. My question is about stretches... Knowing that UVA and W&M would be stretches... is it better to opt not to visit them unless I get in? Is that a rule I can apply to other schools (for example, Emory, which is far and airfare is ALOT for just a visit)

It is ok to want school spirit but to choose the college you will attend mainly based on that doesn’t seem right. It could be a factor though if you care so much about it.

That is a tough one! What if you do get into W&M and/or UVA and then can’t visit before you have to make your decision? That wouldn’t be good. I would say reacher the schools more and visit the ones you seem most interested in or 2 that don’t seem similar. For example if you’ve heard and researched that Richmond is very similar to JM then only visit one of them. Good luck!

Lets say that W&M and Boston University are just as hard to get into. (HYPOTHETICALLY)
Would it be OK to eliminate W&M because BU has athletics and W&M does not?

Well you have to factor in financial stuff, location, how your parents feel about it, how good the education is, where you feel at home, and much more.
…but athletics could be A factor just not A MAJOR factor.
