Narrow/Add to this Wide College List

Ok so I'm a junior from IN. I've been looking at colleges, and have gone on one college trip to the D.C/VA area. I'm going on another soon. I need to figure out which colleges are worth visiting. Here's my list so far:

Fordham
Villanova
American
Georgetown
George Washington
William and Mary
U. Virginia
Wake Forest
Elon
Clemson
Furman
Emory
University of Miami (FL)
Tulane
Vanderbilt
St. Louis U.
Xavier U. (OH)
Case Western Reserve
Pepperdine
Santa Clara U.
U. San Diego

Obviously, some are reaches, some matches, and some safeties. Things that I want in a college are a warm climate and/or big city, solid academics, not to competitve however, a school offering a lot of merit aid thinking I won't qualify for need.

Other quick facts:
4.0 weighted GPA
4 APs by graduation (school only offers 9)
all honors besides that (some are dual credit)
National Merit Commended Student
NHS member
just took SAT in January
planning on doing something academic with my summe
golf, tennis, mock trial, brain game team, heavily involved with summer golf tournaments.

take off fordham and villanova if you want warm weather

the big cities make up for the warm weather in the case of Fordham, Villanova, the DC schools, and Case. Warm weather isn't necessary I guess, but if its not there, it better be a big time city!

you've got one heck of a field trip coming up. Here's a trip for you that could be reasonable to do in 2 to 3 days. You can start from either side (east to west or vice versa)
Emory (1.5 hours) to Clemson (45 mins) to Furman to (abt 30 minutes) Wofford (not on you list but worth visting) (about 1.5 hours) to Davidson to (about 1.hours) Wake to (abt 1.5 hours) UNC and then (abt 30 minutes) Duke (even if you dont want to go there its nice) then if you want to head north U of Richmond.

Its about a 2 day trip but you hit some of the campus late at night so try to plan the ones you really want during the day.

all of these campuses are very nice and interesting to see. Except for Davidson I have visited all of them They are all very very nice and provide a real college experience. To be honest, the one campus I visited that I thought "wow, this is what a vibrant college town is supposed to be like" was UNC. Maybe it was the sunny day or that it was Saturday morning or what but it was great.

The only other feedback from the schools on your list is U of Miami. I used to live in Miami. Unless there is a specific program you want at the U or have a full scholarship or want to be close to the beach or you're a legacy or are VERY familiar with Miami, I would take this one off your list. Just trust me on this one. Its a good school and all but there are other issues that will be very hard to overcome if you dont know south Florida

what are the "other issues" about South FL. and yea the trip you're talking about was somewhat close to what I was going to do. I was going to do Wake, Elon, Duke (at night like you said), Furman, Clemson, in an order somewhat like that.

Greetings, fellow golfer!

For a golfer, Elon and Wake are excellent choices. If you feel like doing a megatrip, do one in the mid-east. Do UVa, William and Mary, Elon, Duke, Wake, UNC, Davidson, Emory, Clemson, Furman, and then Vandy on your way back to Indiana.

oh yea I already did UVA, W&M, American, G'town and GWU. Wake is definietly a good golf school, if only I were good enough to get an athletics scholarship there...

Due to your desire of warm climate or big city, this would be a NEW list:
New York University
University of Minnesota- Twin Cities
University of California- Los Angeles
University of California- Berkley
and other UC's you may want to look at....
Ohio State University- Columbus
Boston University

OSU, Minn, UCLA are too big of schools. The biggest I could go is probably about 15-17,000 undergrads

have you ever been to south Florida by that I mean south of West Palm Beach and closer to miami?
