So my Yale interviewed was scheduled today and I found out that it is a double interview... with a psychologist no less! How are the double interviews handled? :)

and by double interview I mean that he is interviewing two of us at once.

I don’t know how double interviews work per se… but I’ll just tell you what my common sense says The interview is all about getting to know you and your passions, how you interact with others, etc. It’ll be like a group discussion/chat between the three of you – It won’t be like a competition or anything Just a chat. Your interviewer will take note of what kind of people you and the other interviewee are - what makes you both unique, etc. In fact, since there’ll be 3 people involved you can use this as an opportunity to show off your group-work/discussion skills. Best of luck :)

scarlet: after April 1, can you please drop a line to Yale admissions so they can inform the local regional director? I don’t think this is a practice that Yale would condone (speaking as an interviewer myself)

scarlet: it is not yale policy to have double interviews. not at all. i can understand why you are uneasy! that’s a very odd dynamic, especially between two applicants.

please call yale admissions, ask to speak to the person who runs the Alumni Schools Committee (she is very nice), and tell her. Ask her if there is a way she can help you get a one-on-one interview.

do you live in a rural area? are there not many alums in your vicinity? still, i am sure this can get ironed out…and ask if you could interview with someone ELSE, not the one who set up the double interview. i bet they will do their best to accomodate you, yours is a VERY reasonable request.

so what happened? you should indeed notify the admissions office, even though the interview was already conducted.
