on-campus AND alum interview!!!

Hey, I did an on-campus interview this summer and I'm applying EA. So last night, I got a call from an alum who wants to interview me. Is doing TWO interviews normal???? I thought because I already did one that I wouldn't have to do a second!!!

no, that's not normal... i don't know, you probably don't want to do two. just call admissions and ask them why this happened.

Some people on the Yale Interview thread (the non official one) said they had both. I think rachelchen was one of them.
It is strange though.
Also strange that the posts are out of order.

The local volunteer who coordinaties alumni interviews may just want to give everyone the chance. Or you might live somewhere where the volunteer can't expend interviewer energy on people who've interviewed on campus. It's not weird. You can always say no to the alumni interview.

I had two interviews as well...one on-campus interview and one alumni interview. When I told my interviewer he said that it was strange and uncommon, but what's the harm in having two interviews? He encouraged me to go with it and I did...I hope it helps!

I think, however, that they just send names of everyone who applied to the alumni in your area...it's probably just a coincidence (but a good one).

I also did two interviews! (one in August on campus with a rising Yale senior, and one this past Sunday with a Yale alumna at Dunkin Donuts, lol.) I was very surprised when she called me...I explained that I'd already done the on campus interview, but she said that the alum interview option was still open to me, so I went for it. Why not, right? I still have no idea why this happened, though.

The guy who coordinates alum interviews in my area called me to say that I won't have an alum interview because I had one during the summer. lol

I didn't do two, I just had the on-campus one. I asked the alum about it because I didn't know what I was supposed to do and he said the on-campus interview is sufficient.

I had two interviews. I sent in my app wicked earlier though, around October 6.

My Fantastic Week!!!

Yale Alumni Interview Scheduled for Next Tuesday!

I also did two

D was just contacted 30 minutes ago about an alumni interview. It's going to be a scramble to fit it in but we're going to make it happen. I can't imagine turning the opportunity down.

^I would hope you don't turn down the opportunity, smoda! It really is a fun experience...I wish your daughter all the best!

She is nervous (she feels that she did well at the on-campus one and figures she can only do worse) and excited (opportunity to learn more about Yale). What is most difficult is finding a time slot for them both. He is busy tomorrow and Wednesday day. He is free Wednesday PM and we have a family obligation that night. Thursday is Thanksgiving. We leave town Thursday afternoon and don't return until Sunday and I guess the report has to be in by 12/1. Right now they are trying to line up something after interviewer comes home on Wednesday and before our obligations that night. Hopefully the time pressure will not affect the actual interview.

^^Hmm...that really stinks. I'm sure you all will figure some arangement out. (Perhaps a phone interview?) I really do hope you are able to arrange something! Good luck!

Should know tomorrow when they call back.

haha YALE is calling you? how cool.

Well, not Yale but the interviewer's wife called today and is calling back tomorrow to finish the arrangements. My reference to "they" was misleading. The "they" meant to refer to Mr and Mrs Interviewer.

D took the initiative and called. All set for 4:00 tomorrow!

D had her alumni interview today. Pretty much standard interview questions. He asked questions for about 45 minutes and the D followed up with 15 minutes of her own. She believes that it went well but you never know.
