What are my chances of getting into a mediocre, above average school?(University of San Francisco, Boston University, San Diego State, Pepperdine)
I’m a junior in California with a 3.5 (weighted GPA), and 3.7 college prep GPA(which I think State schools look at), I still haven’t taken my SAT or ACT, I am Vice President on my speech and debate club, on the debate team and received 2nd place in my most recent speech, and in many other volunteer type clubs, I have had an internship in San Francisco with an attorney, and was received the most improved award on Junior Varsity basketball team freshman year. I have done an excessive amount of babysitting, basketball officiating, and partaken in National History Day and made it to State Finals. I also coordinated a blood drive at my school(which was very successful) and volunteer at Snowline Hospice often. Also, another question last year I was admitted to the hospital for Anorexia Nervosa and am still recovering,(does this have any part in their decisions) I am very proud of my volunteer work in the community, does this have any effect in the schools’ I want to go to choices? :-*
I would like to go into Political Science, or English if that changes anything
someone replyyyyy
Much will depend upon your SAT/ACT. For SDSU, they use the Eligibility index to rank all applicants for each major. Once you have your SAT and/or ACT, calculate your CSU GPA: https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/gpa_calculator.asp
Take your CSU GPA and plug into the EI calculation:
SAT::: (CSU GPA x800) X (SAT Math + CR) or ACT::: (CSU GPA x200) X (ACT composite x10)
An EI of 4100+ for SAT or 1000+ for ACT puts you in good standing at SDSU.
For the privates schools such as Pepperdine and Univ of SF, your letters of recommendation, essays and EC’s will figure heavily into your admission decision. When you have all your stats, repost to get your chancing.
BTW: None of the schools you listed are considered mediocre, they are definitely above average.
