Help.. Ohio State or U-Minnesota?

Hi everyone, I am in a difficult situation and I need your help..

I'm an international student and as one, the tuition prices in US universities are obviously higher for me compared to in-state kids. I've been accepted in the University of Minnesota and it was my main choice until recently a relative of ours who lives in Ohio offered to accomodate me (and cover food electricity etc.) If I'd like to attend Ohio State, and all there would be left for me to pay is the tuition.

I would have said yes but it is too late to apply for OSU now, so I got into Columbus State Community college instead.

Something that I wanted to clarify is that eherever I attended college here, it woulf be through 0.5% interest student loans given by my country.

Now, here comes the problem. My parents are really bummed for this last minute mind change of mine and they want me to attend UMN because they don't want me to take Community College level classes and then Transfer.

I would really love to attend UMN as I've heard its a great school and didnt want to go through the hassle of transfering and adapting to new people, but what would you suggest me? My parents keep telling me to not stress about the money because they want the best of me but I'm worried of spending much more on UMn?

Bottom line: Should I attend UMn or Columbus State CC and then transfer to OSU? I'd be taking loans for both, but the Ohio option would be cheaper. Is it worth it to save for the sake of education or not?

Thank you.

Go to UMN. It’s a great school, plus OOS tuition is really not that bad there compared to other schools. You don’t want to risk not getting into OSU, so you might as well go to UMN.

Good point, thanks for your reply.
You’re right about the OOS price, however the only thing I was worried about was the housing/food price, which in Ohio I wouldn’t have to pay.

Thanks again.

What’s the difference between both?
Since International tuition at Ohio State is higher than UMN’s, how much in savings are we talking about?
In addition, living on campus would help you discover American society better and would help you “fit in” better.

This seems like a no brainer to me. Go to Minn. Live in a great American city. Attend a great university at one of the best OOS deals in the nation. I think that your Ohio plan is really lacking in academic quality.
