Help on deciding major?

I'm already pretty confident that I want to go into medicine, but I'm unsure as to what I should major in. I've heard from people that a biology major is definitely unnecessary and some recommend I major in music because I have somewhat of a passion for it. Could anyone with any experience in this topic give me any tips? Thank you.

Criteria for selecting a major:
-Does it make plenty of money?
-Does it play to one or more of one’s strengths reasonably well?

Not criteria:
-Everything else, including ‘passions’.

Major in whatever you want. Just take the classes that will prepare you for the MCATs and Med school. You don’t have to MAJOR in it.

This from someone who passed the MCATs taking classes in basket weaving?

My major doesn’t decide how much money I make. And passion, or how well someone does in a certain subject, is usually enough of a reason to major in that subject.

That’s the thing. Taking music classes wouldn’t prepare me at all for the MCATs or med school. I just would feel more comfortable majoring in that subject.

Dw - Yes, it does, and passion does not pay the bills. I would encourage you due due diligence on what degrees pay, on average.

Do you really believe that? You do realize I can get into med school with a biology degree or a theater degree. Your degree does not matter as long as you have the pre-requisites.

Well then it sounds like you already know you’d rather major in Music and take the pre-reqs for med school.

Yeah but what if you don’t get in. Then your major is going to kinda matter.
