Heres the Prompt:Self-identity and personal expression take many forms. Tastes in music, food and clothing can make a statement while politics, religion and ethnicity often act as defining attributes. Buttons on your backpack; a tattoo; the blogs you read and the web sites you visit; the minutia on your refrigerator or the doodles on your notebook are clues to your passions and viewpoints. Are you a vegetarian? Do you prefer YouTube or test tubes? Are you the drummer in an all-girl rock band? Do you like to tinker? Are you the umpire or the pitcher? Use the richness of your identity to give us insight: Who are you?

right now im just stuck on how i should start/write this thing....i cant continuously say "im someone who __" etc

Is there something about you that represents who you are? Though I'm not applying to Tufts, I would probably choose my list of bookmarks or favorite books or TV channels or SOMETHING. I would suggest using a physical object to represent those different aspects of yourself - kind of like an extended metaphor essay. But that's just one take.

for this essay, are they looking more for a list or for you to expand on a couple of specific things more extensively? (I'm attempting to write mine, too)

I thought that it was just such a ridiculous task (it was 200 words to tell WHO YOU ARE, right???), that I completely turned it into a joke. That's actually what I did with all of my short answer questions for all of my colleges because it was just stupid. I can't describe who I am in 200 words. Hell, I couldn't describe myself in UNLIMITED space! Tufts can suck it as far as I'm concerned. I don't even like that school anymore (and I'm serious). I did write a hella good essay for the optional though..... With Tufts, I have more of a love/hate relationship. :)

I was going to write that before I realized I'm applying to Tufts through a different application process. My initial thought was to say something to effect of I'm a teenager, I'm going to college and continuing my life to figure out who I am, the entire process of life is trying to figure out who you are, it's naive and borderline egotistical for me to believe I know all there is to know about myself or how I view a world I've barely experienced. Basically refusing to answer the question and actively going after it. Probably wouldn't have been a good idea, though. :P

It does not strictly have to be 200 or under. The word count is a suggestion to keep in mind. If you're sending in 800, that's too much. Be rational.
