How did everyone format their Tufts "who are you" essay? Did you list things about yourself without much detail, or did you elaborate on only a few different traits? I'm writing mine now, and it seems like it is going to focus on two or three things that I think give insight into my character and that aren't plainly visible elsewhere in my application.

Well I'm planning on writing about my weird train of thought. :P

I gave very specific details about myself, in a sort of story.

I thought this essay would be the hardest to write, but it turned out to be the fastest, it came out in a 30 minute burst!

I basically wrote a list of things - about two sentences per item, to give them a glimpse into a bunch of different aspects of my life. It looks like people are doing it both ways, so just do what works for you.

Nevermind 10 char

I used the facebook groups I'm in to describe myself.

man I told them I didn't know who I was. >.<

Okay, I love the facebook groups idea, saera! That's really clever.

I wrote about my how I have grown plants my entire life and how that has helped me discover who I am. I think you probably could have done a lot of things with this essay, but I took it as an opportunity to provide something different that was not demonstrated elsewhere in my application.

I wrote about a word I liked (antithesis) and speculated on why I liked it. I'm a bit worried about whether it's personal enough, but I think it shows a unique quality, and I'm hoping it's seen as showing how I think.

I wrote about duct tape wallets. I hope they see the metaphor...

I wrote about my love of Douglas Adams.

i completely echo you.. i was like "what should I be writing about?".. and then i started to write kind of a story about me. it wasn't any pain at all writing this essay

Hahaha, I love this thread! I kept going down the list thinking, "That's a great idea. That's a GREAT idea! I love that! I love that, too!!"

It's a great feeling to know how many really cool and interesting applicants we have. And yes, I can base that entirely off of someone's love of Douglas Adams or the word Antithesis (both of which I adore).

I wrote mine about my room and how all the stuff on my walls and such related to different things I care about.

mine was me listening to my ipod on shuffle, it came out pretty well.

facebook thing, i have a friend who did that exact topic.

lol maea, i did almost the same thing as you =D

btw i loved the fact that this essay only required 200 words.....

Hebrewhammer, that's exactly what i did! I talked about my room and all of the posters and photos on my wall, etc.

i did a copy change to the lyrics of "Who Are You" by The Who....!!!!

cheatah :P
