help on what major/courses to take to transfer smoothly from CC to a university?

i plan on transferring to a 4-year college after CC and i think i’m decided on getting an environmental engineering major in a university (hopefully if i get accepted). i am considering 3 universities to transfer: 2 UC campuses and Cal State near our area. my problem is that the 2 UC campuses offer environmental engineering but cal state does not. i also think that UCs are harder to get into and not to mention all UCs are far away from where i live. the Cal State campus near me offers Applied Physics, Biochemistry, and Chemistry (those are just what appeal to me the most since i want a science major)

so my question i guess would be: is it possible that whatever major i’ll be taking up in a 4year college, may it be environmental engineering or the other majors stated above, i’ll still be able to meet the transfer requirements, given that i just take up all the needed courses in cc? or are the requirements from those majors too far away from each other that i may not be able to take all of it?

i’m actually yet to meet up with an adviser from the CC i’m going to (i already have an appointment) but i’d just like to prepare myself a bit earlier on what they might say to me. thank you!

Try using http://www.assist.org to see what courses at your CC will cover the prerequisites for your intended majors at your target UCs and CSUs.

Here are the UCs and CSUs that http://www.assist.org suggests for environmental engineering (although only some of them are likely to be what you want):

Civil Engineering B.S. (CSUFRES, CSULA, SJSU)
Civil Engineering B.S. with Environmental Engineering Option (CPP)
Engineering Sciences B.S. Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Emphasis (CSUB)
Engineering Sciences B.S. Management Emphasis (CSUB)
Engineering Sciences B.S. Petroleum Engineering Emphasis (CSUB)
Environmental Engineering B.S. (CPSLO, SDSU, UCM, UCR, UCSD)
Environmental Engineering B.S. Air Pollution Control Technology Option (UCR)
Environmental Engineering B.S. Water Pollution Control Technology Option (UCR)
Environmental Engineering Science B.S. (UCB)
Environmental Engineering, B.S. (UCI)
Environmental Resources Engineering B.S. (HSU)
Geology B.S. (CSULA)
Industrial Technology B.S., (Concentration in Manufacturing Systems) (SJSU)
Mechanical Engineering B.S. (CSUN)

According to http://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx , the following have ABET accreditation for environmental engineering (although more have it for civil engineering, which often has environmental as a subarea):

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo
Humboldt State University
San Diego State University
University of California Merced
University of California, Irvine
University of California, Riverside

Your CC’s academic advising should have course lists you need - especially if you are targeting TAG UCs. Just be sure to validate them with your target school.
