what major can i take in CC if the major i want for a university isnt currently offered in my cc?

i plan on taking an Environmental Engineering major in a university (hopefully i will be able to transfer and be admitted)

however, that major isnt offered in the community college i’m going to. i searched up the courses required for admission in the university i want through the assist website so i pretty much have a general idea on the prerequisites

my cc major options would be:

Engineering - i would need to take an extra 10 or so units
Chemistry - around 5 extra units to take
Biology - around 5 as well

by “taking an extra x amount of units” i just mean it’s not necessary for me to take some courses listed in the program requirements of that certain major to transfer to the environmental engineering program in my chosen university (im basing this off what it says in the assist website)

at first i thought of taking the regular engineering major solely because it sounded most similar to environmental engineering. but again, i dont really need to take some of the subjects from that program’s requirements. would it be ok to choose chemistry or biology instead?

You really should talk to a transfer advisor to understand what you should major in, but as long as you take the prerequisites for what you need to transfer into the environmental engineering major it shouldn’t matter that much. There may be some special internal reason to major in engineering instead of chemistry instead, though, so I’d ask the transfer advisor!

You should look at the environmental engineering core requirements at whatever schools you’re interested in. You’ll probably have to take basic math and english classes.
