im waitlisted :(
anyone who was accepted but is declining?
i need some hope :O

Keep in contact with the admissions office! I was a "possible" during the EE round, and I'm almost positive that my keeping in touch with the AO demonstrated my interest in the school and helped push me into the admit pool.

Send them a brief note (whether through snail mail or email) about how you're still interested in the school and -- if it is your first choice -- that it is your first choice. Make sure you don't come across as whiny.

That being said, don't pin your hopes on getting in. I mean that in the nicest way possible -- being waitlisted really stinks, but you need to find your next best choice and get excited about it!

(And to answer your question -- while Wellesley is hands-down my top choice, if my parents decide it's too much money, I may end up going to my state school.)

Last year, 59% of those accepted turned Wellesley down, so even if it looks like most people here are attending, don't give up hope!

As roxxy said, write them a letter telling them why you love them, stressing everything you'd bring to a school and making it crystal clear that, if you're accepted, you'll attend. It'd probably be appropriate for your counselor to do the same.

Good luck!

i was a possible too..
and wellesley is a top choice :O
thanks for the advice! i will definitely contact the ao!

wow only 59%? so a yield of 41%? that's not bad at all.

i may possibly turn Wellesley down for Smith, HMC, or Wesleyan. we'll see.

Don't give up hope! Like other said, write a letter to update them on what you've been doing this year (ECs, awards and such), and that it's your first choice, etc, etc.

You still have 3/31 (I'm guessing you applied to schools that release decisions that day) and the rest of next week to hear good news.

I'm still waiting for 3/31 to hear from my top-choices, but even then, I'm pretty sure I'll be turning down Wellesley. Good luck to you! :)

I'm probably not going there either if it makes you feel any better.
:)

ok Wellesley has just been ruled out for me. amount my parents would have to pay at Wesleyan: $7000. amount my parents would have to pay at Wellesley: $19000. bai-bai Wellesley.

gl with admissions.
