@anon87 wait sorry how do you calculate UW GPA?
So basically GPA stands for grade point average. What that means is every letter grade is assigned a corresponding point value. Unweighted GPA, the name of which is pretty self explanatory, means that no extra “weight” or consideration is given to AP/Honors courses (they count the same as regular courses for the purposes of uwGPA). The point values are universal and are as such:
A - 4 points
B - 3 points
C - 2 points
D - 1 point
F - 0 points
Note: most high schools do not have +/- GPA scales, which means that, for example a B-,B,B+ are all worth 3 points. Likewise, an A- and A are both worth 4 points. So in short, disregard any +/- associated with the letter grade.
Now, as the name indicates, GPA takes the sum of these point values and averages them. So, to calculate uwGPA, one would simply assign each grade they received a point value from the chart, add the points together, and lastly divide by the total number of courses taken.
To illustrate: (for the purposes of this sample, I will assume a high school semester consists of 7 courses, although this is not always the case)
Class 1 - A
Class 2 - A
Class 3 - A
Class 4 - B
Class 5 - B
Class 6 - A
Class 7 - C
So to calculate the uwGPA for this student’s semester, just follow the directions I outlined. Assign each letter the corresponding point value and add them up. So, 4+4+4+3+3+4+2 = 24. Lastly, divide by the number of courses taken. So 24/7 = 3.43
And that is how calculate uwGPA. Hope this helped!!!

U Mich is most definitely a match. Columbia is a bit of a shot in the dark, but applying early will definitely help you. NYU is probably also a match.
