Wow. I am simply blown away by this. If I were you, no matter what, I would NEVER go to that school. If you have 100% bright futures you shouldnt have any problem with paying for tuition. (although I havnt stayed up to date with all the bright futures drama lately) Also, if room and board, fees, etc. are the only things you would have to pay for it wont be that hard. The worst thing you would have to do is take out a loan and in the end it wouldnt total that much.

Update: My father is now reluctantly allowing me to go to Gainesville, yet my stubborn mother still believes that demons came with my acceptance letter and she still won't crack. This has caused a dispute between my parents and now they rarely speak to each other. God I hope that she can get it thru her skull that I don't want to EVER go to PCC! It's my future dammit!

Don't worry, your parents will work it out. Your Mom will come around when you come home in December and she sees you haven't changed in any ways that she finds offensive. Meanwhile, you have your Dad on your side so keep him happy (with your grades, church attendance, chores, whatever) and you'll be in Gainesville soon!

Im glad at least one your parent have returned to the sane side. Your mother however..... ugh. Seriously, what do your parents do? Do they have any idea about what college is? Are they aware of its purpose? What college did they go to? Just hearing about your parents angers me so much...

Anyway.. I will have you know that many of my friends that are going to UF are Christians. They pray a lot, have bibles, and want to have sex after being married. I think you will have PLENTY of Christian friends / influences at UF and I heard that the quarterback on their football team is die hard Christian too.

I would love to go to this PCC place just to make so much trouble. I would break every single rule in their book.. Ive been reading about it and talking about it with some people and I have heard they make you "check in" everywhere you go and literally trap you in the campus where you aren't allowed to leave under certain conditions. I literally would not last an hour at PCC.

^^Yeah, Tebow is a diehard Christian. But I'm sure the night he won the Heisman he danced at some kind of after party. (Dancing is forbidden by PCC)

I know!! like, for real, I would totally make a bad Christian. I love partying!! I can't wait to go to UF to meet and mingle. Whoo!

I tried to get into Christianity one time, but I don't understand the bible and stuff. It was also really boring and mad me feel kind of clear. After a couple minutes, I was like, this place isn't for me.

omg ufdawg, you have to fight for it! this is your future and no one can take that away from you! PCC seriously does sound scary but hopefully your mom will allow you to go even if it's reluctantly. if it's between PCC and nothing then that is totally stupid and you should tell your parents that you would choose nothing and then all the money they spent and all the hard work you did in private school was just a waste of time. i really hope things work out for you though. try your hardest, you deserve the acceptance from UF as well as the 100% bright futures. good luck and keep us updated!

An alum on the cover of Maxim? Sure the school is very proud. :-)
This school is sick. However, with all their restrictions, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to get expelled. I mean, if you have to go there, you could always try and get kicked out. Although, hopefully your mom will come around. If not, I'm sure there's some mental hospital you can refer her to.

Would your parents object to making a visit to Gainesville? You can try and find the leader of any bible study groups on campus as well as try and meet some of the local pastors. If they get a first hand experience of the area, maybe they will change their minds, unless they think UF is possessed.

You should bring your parents to Turlington plaza any weekday before 3, they seem like they would fit in with the Crazy Screaming Preaching People.

In all seriousness though, UF has a HUGE Christian population. Theres Gator Christian Life, and Religious frats and sororities, etc.

Do your parents know the school is unaccredited?

That school seems CRAZY, I got annoyed just reading about it, I cant imagine having to actually go there.

You must have a Bright Futures scholarship with those grades. Whether you do or do not, pay for UF any way you must.

If you must pay for every penny of tuition with loans, view it as an investment in yourself. You're obviously serious about your education; therefore it wouldn't be a waste.

I just cannot believe that I just read that on a .edu domain.

Your parents can't force you to do squat when you turn 18, as far as I know. I remember my dad telling me he had a falling out with his dad and he would have to work if he wanted to go to UF and that's just what he did. You will probably have to do the same, but you have NO FUTURE IN ENGINEERING if you go to that school.

I think op is gone, but my advice if you did go to PCC would be to do nothing academic, skip all classes and tests and get zeros on tests, and try to break rules till you get kicked out so you never get grades. It's not a real school so it shouldn't really count for grad school anyway. There's no way it should even come to that though.

I'm not at all into that scene but there's plenty of Christian stuff here, clubs such as Christian Gators and Campus Crusade for Christ. A girl from my HS actually joined a Christian sorority.

Yes, that will help convince the OP's parents to reconsider their position...

Going to UF doesn't necessarily mean that it will turn you from Christianity.

Bob Jones University got sued recently because they had pink and blue sidewalks. You could only talk with your sibling of the opposite sex once a month and it needs to be chaperoned.

Talk with your parents about doing God's will and it's not in the ministry. If you go to a Christian college, it would have to be Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
