Help Picking Essay Topic

<p>I'm trying to get input on topics I'm considering for the National Merit Scholarship essay. So far, I've narrowed it down to these topics:</p>

<p>Experience taking Sailing Merit Badge at Boy Scout Summer Camp
Experience taking SCUBA Certification and merit badge at Scout Camp
Experience taking college-level Oceanography course summer before 8th grade in Hawaii
Experience going to Scotland for a music exchange program spring of 8th grade</p>

<p>The last two topics are a little hazy in my mind, but I still think I could write a decent essay out of them. What is everyone's opinion on each of these topics?</p>

<p>I would choose one of the top two topics since the others are from like 3-4 years ago (unless you can write a much better essay for your 8th grade experiences).</p>
